I have avoided my dreams for years because I have allowed fear to keep me down. I’ve been afraid I would write a book and nobody would read it or I would schedule a speaking engagement and nobody would come to the event. I’ve been afraid I would screw it all up and fail miserably at something I tried really hard to do well at.
But then, I woke up one day and realized I was failing anyway.
I was miserable.
I watched a live video on Facebook. Jon Acuff has been a hero for years. I greatly respect his ability to motivate anyone to conquer the world. I have often wondered what it must be like to live the dream.
So I decided to stop watching the game from the sidelines and I am getting in the game. Here are the things I did to make the transition:
- I enrolled in Acuff’s 30 Days of Hustle course.
- I started my blog.
- I opened an Evernote file with blog ideas.
- I sketched ideas for my personal website.
- I vocalized my goals and plan of action to some of my friends.
My blog is all about turning my crazy, unbelievable life story into a message and building a platform I can use to encourage the world around me.
As time goes on, the plan is to share about my past experiences, present circumstances and future dreams. I want to share my life, my knowledge and my strength. Through it all, I want to share how my hustle is the key ingredient.
As of this blog, I have completed my first day of 30DOH. Tomorrow, I will tell you how I get a 16 year old to go to Starbucks with me and talk about his future.
What are you doing to hustle on your dream?
